The Seduction of Silence
Nadia Murtaza

It often happens about this time for most people. When suddenly the noise of the surrounding world has cleared and only the slightest shifting creeks of the building you are in are apparent. The birds have long closed their eyes and nestled themselves away and children are tucked into bed cocooned in their covers. It is now that you realize that you are completely alone.

You've probably never appreciated the silence until you have the time to think about it, it's the only time that you do actually have time - to really think. In a world where we are convinced that something always needs doing- a show needs to be watched, a dish needs to be cleaned and errand needs to be run the idea of constructing a moment just to get to know yourself; disappears. We don't really need to understand anybody but ourselves - and don't expect anybody to understand you; where is the beauty and intrigue in the obvious?

So here we are, in the silence. Silence is the the brightest dark light to a soul, it can lead to unrelenting subsiding sadness or enlightening devoted happiness. In my own mind, and maybe yours we should never be just one - we should have both. Sadness can be the epicenter of fantastical, misunderstood unexplained but memorable art. Happiness the grind that keeps the momentum of our brain pulsing, the beating of our heart in unison and the reward that keeps our eyes growing wider.

People often associate silence with loneliness, and that with love or furthermore; lack of love. Love. Such a strong, fluttering, positive word that is so forthrightly unforgiving. How many of us have truly been lucky enough to really feel love and return it, without even questioning or needing to play games with our minds. It is something we all ask, about this time.

We have been in love, we have loved and we have been loved, possibly not all with the same people - but how much of this was the selfless, unrelenting love that we all so often desire? How many times has resentment, jealousy, dishonesty or circumstance gotten in the way of the magic that is the butterfly belly? In the silence, there is time to think about the perfect love. Love that is love to it's truest form, which because of it's magnitude, has no words to describe it; possibly just colours, lights and moments could start to do it justice in the silence. In this Silence you will realise that love isn't just for another person.  For a life, for your world; and not under any circumstance will anybody ever be able to make meaning of that; because each of our words are individual to us - and nobody will judge you for it.

The last thing you will ever know is yourself, in the silence and solitude of a twinkling sky - it will come to you, like a cool breeze on your cheek; and that's when everything else will follow, a love to suit a you; now a person that you really know, a love just for you. A life constructed to the meanings you want to fulfill in a world that will have to evolve to your mind. Appreciate the Silence, you would be surprised at all the miracles it will manifest into.
