Anticipate an Impulsive Spirit
Nadia Murtaza
There are a multitude of different ways to look at your life so far. Regret the many mistakes you've made. The opportunities you may have missed, your poor judgement; not doing the things you wish you had. That's one way to look at it. Getting older doesn't mean you have to grow up, it's a common misconception - which ultimately leads to an unfulfilling, disappointing life full of "what ifs".
There's a pattern that we as human beings have derived over the years; one thing connects to another, step by step, day by day, year by year, rights and wrongs. If you break this cycle you are considered an eccentric - immature - selfish and out of touch with reality. Incidentally, these "eccentrics" are responsible for some of the most interesting, influential and inspirational moments, images, sounds and dinner talk topics of our civilization. Life does not stop at 22. Your eyes can only get bigger, see deeper- more vibrant images; your body adapts to even more surroundings then what it was originally developed for, you mold into new situations- sculpt your mind to the natural evolution around you. We are after all, evolving…so why stay so; "same same".
Take a moment to look around you, and realize our otherwise troubled earth still has a magnificent amount of surprises - small and large to feast you with. One moment, you may notice a butterfly flutter its wings in a shade of violet you have never seen before, or gaze at the stars on a clear night when you would have ordinarily ignored the glisten because of your busy, stressful life. Or the clouds - what fantastical shape the wind breezes the cotton fluff into - a dragon, a dolphin. Or just take a moment to mirror into a puddle, just to see the artistic distortions you may get back.
Not everyone is a traveller, not everyone is an artist; but that doesn't create a boundary to how much of the beauty of life you are allowed to appreciate. And to the same point; if you feel like you maybe don't fit the mold society has built, then embrace yourself, embrace your "weirdness", do everything that makes you happy, don't worry about the smile lines…they're worth it. We all have a soul, there is no pattern. There is love with out a piece of paper and a white dress. Jobs with out a desk. Bodies covered in engravings and scars - some with ink. Porcelain skin in sunlight. Passions that stretch beyond the imagination - some with a paint brush, some with an instrument, some with the click of of a camera - with boards, sports balls, sweat, blood and tears. Others are walking through exotic back streets and markets- smelling the spices scents of near and far lands. Feeling the ocean crash against your feet, breathing deep breaths with your eyes closed tightly to imagine the colours that the wind might have.
Whatever you do, don't ever believe "growing up" is a necessity, or has a definition; happiness, love, passion and meaningful existences are all you need to create a life worth living.
